Re-entry into the blogging world

Hello! I'm back after about 2 years of hibernation. The reason for my inactivity is purely- laziness, laziness and laziness. A lot of things have happened in the meantime- the most important is I've begun to see the world- with all kinds of people. For one thing I cannot call myself "A school girl trying to improve my English vocabulary" any longer. In one way there is some connection between the post which follows and the previous sentence- the reason which made me come back to blogger.

Once into college, I see how different everything is. The travel in town bus (mostly fully packed), the attitude of the faculty and peer group have all made me open my eyes. I realize these many years I've been inside a golden cage where I was taken care of by my friends and family. Now as I step into the real world, I see how different it is from the world I've been shown.

Let me first describe my travel experiences. Gaining entry into a bus by negotiating my way from the first step to a comfortable place where I can stand was one of the first things I learned. Mostly, by the time I achieve this I would've reached my destination. Standing on the last step in a private bus with a bulging bag on the shoulder while the bus is turning an S-bend is not exactly my definition of comfort. And to think that kids right from the age of 8 do it everyday to go to and return from school is very saddening. It made me think why no school buses are provided for the government school children. If not separate school buses, at least student special buses can be provided. If those kids get tired just from travel, how can they be expected to learn with their full potential in their homes? Giving free lunch doesn't solve the problem of illiteracy entirely. The only comfortable feeling I have while being squashed in a crowded bus is "Thank God I do not have to worry about pick-pockets". I do not have a smart phone!

Coming to the academic part, among many issues, I find one very annoying- buying education. Sounds absurd, right? When people with great talents find it difficult to get admitted into top colleges, people with money are relaxed. This is one place where the proverb "No pains, no gains" does not hold. I do not see any reason to buy seats in a famous college when the student is not capable of coping with what is done in the college. I'm not implying that everybody who has got top marks in the Higher Secondary exams are highly capable of handling things very efficiently. But they at least know that they should work hard to gain something. Only a single drop of poison is necessary to make a potful of milk poisonous. Apart from possessing venomous qualities by itself, it also contaminates the entire contents of the pot. It does not allow the milk to retain its purity. It tortures and torments every single drop which tries to retain its originality. Unless that drop finds a way of leaving the pot it has no chance of survival. That is exactly the case in real world too. There maybe an argument that not all those who get top marks have the best character. Yes, I agree contamination is possible at all levels. But as long as contamination is there, why not allow people who have talent to be at a place rather than people who have money? There is more in this world than money can buy.

There is also the issue of understanding each and every concept being learnt. First and foremost, we should understand why we are learning a concept. For example, why should an electronics and communication engineer learn engineering graphics? Why should a fashion technologist learn C language? Once we know what we are learning and why we are learning it, half the learning process is over. The remaining part just lies in understanding the concepts and their relevance in our field.

Let me not convey the impression that I have got a pessimistic outlook of the world. No, I only say that there are all kinds of people everywhere. Learning to lead a peaceful life with different kinds of people is a skill; not a very easy skill too. It is a life skill which ought to be developed in each and every human being.

Two years - a flash...

Well do I remember that day, June 3rd, 2009, when I entered that IX-A class, without having any interest, scolding in my mind the teacher who had done the promotion, basically because my two best friends were in another class, but still there was a cousin of mine and another friend. The teacher who came to our class added to my already low spirit. How I wished I was in IX-C or at least B. Its easy to say "Make friends", but practically difficult to find a person who matches your wavelength. I was always grumpy in my early ninth. I convinced myself that I was happy with the friends I got.

Gradually the time came when my teacher decided to change my place. I found no obvious difference. After two days or so came Aishu sit near me. That day myself and another friend kept giving her puzzles and riddles to solve. To my utter joy I got a person who shared my view on tuition. Not only her, but now the entire last 3 benches had become close now, thanks to mainly our catcher-killer games. I can never forget those games. Then came the jinx called "Annual exams". After a weekend of summer holidays we were back to school for the special classes. We got places keeping watch not to break the 'last 3 bench group'. We loved special classes more than normal classes, because there was no attendance and no time restrictions. They were the best. Then came the so called vacation. Going to Black Thunder was the only eventful thing that happened then. As soon as school reopened the scramble of tenth started.

I don't know how time passed. I was happy that I got good teachers for all subjects (excepting the language teacher, who often reminds me of Gilderoy Lockhart). I was not afraid of practical classes. But I really can't reason why my hand always shivers when I pour anything into anything in chemistry lab. The consequence was the pouring of concentrated sulphuric acid on my hand on my first chemistry class (still have the mark on my left hand). I learnt not only my subjects in X-A but also lessons life offered me. Those joyful lunch breaks, never ending talks still ring in my ear.

Finally the D-Day came. March 22. I had no seriousness that I was about to write the Board exams. I had been more serious for school exams. Probably because we were given too many holidays in between. And then after it seemed ages, came the day, much looked forward to by most of the students - April 11. We (the famous last 3 bench group) all went to a friend's house to freshen up, went to Arun unlimited, back to school to take some snaps, back home then. Everything went well that day except for Aishu who hadn't joined in the celebrations. Time seemed to run very fast that afternoon.

Finally when I was back home I felt sorry that I was leaving that class. We are now a family. I don't know when I started liking that class, but now I am too sorry to leave it. I never thought I would like this class when I entered it on June 3rd, 2009. But April 11, 2010 is a day which will remain evergreen in my memories. The X-A family rocks forever.

The fastest week ever

The week which passed seemed to be the fastest of all to me. Of course, nowadays no week seems to drag (excepting the 4 hours from 9am to 1pm everyday when the teachers come and torment us with their supposedly interesting topics) yet last week passed like a flicker of light. Three important things took place. No story books (I don't know why but I wasn't in the mood for books). Two most mundane films. And above all my birthday.

First my birthday. I woke up early (6am is early for me) to find some very surprising presents. I do not exaggerate by saying this is the only birthday ever in my life filled with such a lot of surprises and wishes. My friends arrived one by one. There was no bounds to our enjoyment. We had fun fully for the fast approaching hectic year. My parents were astonished to find me enjoying and rejoicing to the utmost level. Definitely this ought to be the most unforgettable birthday I've ever had. I myself couldn't believe that I had enjoyed so much. The only drawback was that our plan of watching movie had to be canceled due to the work of the TNEB, who chose that particular day for the power shutdown. But that didn't affect our enjoyment to the least.

Talking about the two dragging movies I saw, I feel astonished that they didn't make the week seem longer. The first was paiyaa. Karthik has got a decent role for the first time, but it does not suit him, probably because we saw him in a more dishevelled look in this previous films. He doesn't get the expressions properly. Tammannah has done a good job of what has to be done. The film would have become more popular only if it had come some one and a half decades ago. The story has become something out of date. The music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is good.

The second is Vinnai Thandi Varuvayaa. Better than the former, but not up to the mark.Though many say it is really good, I didn't find anything special in it. Just a simple love story. I had expected much more from the comments I received. But I don't know what people find something so special about it. For me it was a great disappointment. The music is brilliant. Well, I don't have to tell about the music being good when you know it is by Rahman. Still I want to express my views.

Well the other things that characterized this week are as usual the classes, tests (the not-so-interesting part) and enjoying with friends in school (the better part). I don't know why this week especially of all has seemed to drag. And forgive me for boring you with my own musings. I wanted to do something and I realized that it was long since I blogged. So I just babbled whatever came to my mind. And thanks for reading, with or without patience, my jabber.

The birthday celebrations :-)

It was one of the happiest days of my life!! February 28. It was my friend Sanchu's birthday. I was invited to her house. And till the evening before I didn't know how I was going to go to her house or where her house was or what was the itinerary. But I knew I was going definitely. I had not gone to any friend's house till then. It was the first time.

The next morning I woke up and went to bath patiently and as soon as I came out I had a call from Visa, who was supposed to pick me up telling she had started from her house and I had to be there in 10 minutes. It was a record. I ate in 2 minutes and got ready in 2 minutes. I was halfway through eating when again Visa called to tell that she was already there. Somehow I got ready and went there.

When she called Sanchu to ask directions for her house she told her "Sneha won't come. She's going out somewhere. I don't know the full details. She told that she will call", just in front of me. And so it was a shock to Sanchu to see us both coming together. I had forgot to charge my camera battery, so I could not take my camera. But the others except Hamsi had camera and we all took pictures. First me, Visa, Sanchu and her sister went to temple. Then Sanchu went to one of her friend's house and then we got a call from Hamsi telling that she had arrived. So we consciously went slowly to irritate her.

And then the food. My stomach had no empty space for supper when I came back home. We ate so much. We played many games and took photos in various locations (not outside her apartment premises). Her flat mates had also come. We all enjoyed a lot. It was a great day in her life as well as in our lives.

The unforgettable picnic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I felt really exited. It was the eve of my picnic. Packing my things and worrying if I had forgotten anything I was busy that evening. I was asked to sleep early but I couldn't sleep the whole night. Howewer I woke up successfully at 2.45 am the next morning (on normal working days I can't wake up even at 5.45 am). Picnic day!!!

I went 5 minutes late to school. On my way there was nobody in the road and I feared that I was late. But I was a bit too early. Not even the thought that one of my friends called me at 3.45 to tell that she was not coming for the tour made me worry. The travel was delighted by dancing to new songs. We ate a breakfast which I regret to even call as a breakfast. Then a 2 hr travel to Dreamworld in which a thriller movie was showed. We reached Dreamworld when the movie was nearing the climax. Whoa!! Reached the spot!!!

I had never gone to any games like giant wheel, columbus and the like. But I felt embarrassing to stand simply when all my friends went to such games. So I gathered all the guts I had and went for the pendulum. I was afraid that I would vomit something. So I had warned the girl sitting near me to be careful. I felt exited and shouted with all my voice. But it got boring after sometime. We then went to three more land games of which 2 were new to me. Then we went to the water games. I went on the slide for the first ever time in my life. But the splash was my fave. We were asked to start from there very soon.

On our way back we saw the climax of 'Yaavarum Nalam' and another movie. We reached by 10 pm. I went home and did nothing but sleep. The next day I went to school and luckily no class was taken because I was so sleepy... It is a tour which I can never forget.......

My three day hell!!!!!!!!

I'm now back to school. Back to work. Tons and tons of homework. Fights and reunion with friends. Scoldings from teachers. Borrowing and giving notes. Birthdays and gifts. Everything back again. And amidst all these blogging is a stress reliever for me. The first week was as usual exciting getting to know my classmates and teachers. The second week all the work started to pile on us like a sand heap. The end of third week was that which brought a change. From nowhere an idiotic virus started to spread in my whole class. In just two days nearly 10 people were affected by that virus and I was one of that living-non living thing's victim.

It started with a cold. Not severe in the beginning it was. Then came the throat ache, which was not bad enough not to cease my chatter box mouth (an inconvenience for the leaders). I didnt feel like 101.3 degree Fahrenheit. It was something like 99. But then I regretted for not having felt for it. Because the next day after having put a 'sick leave' and watching movies in my home it got much worse. My mother called the doctor immediately and I then slept off. A blood test taken the next morning revealed that nothing was wrong with me and I was back to work (which was doubled due to my absence) in three days.

That three days is unforgettable, but now my work, which is still pending from my absence is calling me. So let me come and blog later on......
